The usage of a fan unit is recommended, if sufficient air flow for cooling the 1643 AM unit cannot be guaranteed. A fan unit is required, if the unit will be mounted in an outdoor street cabinet, because the fan unit provides sufficient air flow to cool the unit in a thermally hostile environment such as street cabinets. Proper cooling is ensured as long as one fan is still working. The fan unit has no air filter and can only be used together with a DC powered unit.
