The XM10G/8 LNW705 pack supports up to 8 client ports that are populated with PTMs. The 8 ports can be a mix of the following signals: 1GE, FC100, FICON, FC200, FICON_EXP, or OC3/12/48. However, there are equipage restrictions that must be followed. The following table lists the rates that are supported on each port.

In order to maintain fixed port-tributary allocation, the following rules are used:
First tributary of any port uses the first STS-1 assigned to that port. This rule implies that tributary allocation segments follows 24xSTS1 boundary. Payload of any client port will be mapped on the carrier starting at 1+24xn STS1 position, where n={0,1,…,7}.
Each port uses a contiguous set of STS1 tributaries required for transporting service supported by that port.
If number of tributaries needed to transport the client payload (either number of SONET/SDH tributaries received at the client port or number of tributaries comprising a VCG associated with data port) exceeds 24 STS1s, the client signal claims the tributaries assigned to the adjacent, higher port number, until all client signal carrying tributaries are mapped to STS-192. For example FC200 provisioned on Port1, that requires 37 STS1 tributaries, occupies tributaries 1-37 within an STS192 and renders Port2 unusable for any other service (the port provisioning rules enforce this).
