Outside plant (OSP) cabinet configurations are available using the OSP hardened Main packs: LNW32/LNW202 (OC-48), LNW48/LNW50/LNW54/LNW203 (OC-12), LNW80, LNW82 (OC-3/OC-12/OC-48) OLIUs. Many of the low-speed (tributary) packs supported by Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX are OSP hardened.
The OSP environment may cause false clogged filter alarms. When the shelf is installed in an outside plant cabinet, the cooling air filter must be removed. The filter is not needed when operating in an OSP. This measure will improve air flow and thus enhance cooling performance and equipment life. See the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 Data Multiplexer (DMX) User Operations Guide, 365-372-301 or Alcatel-Lucent 1665 Data Multiplexer (DMX) Installation Manual, 365-372-304 for instructions to suppress the clogged filter alarm. Suppression of the clogged air filter alarm is required when installing the shelf in an OSP.
Detailed information regarding the installation of all Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX products in OSP applications can be found in Chapter 10, Technical specifications. For more information regarding the OSP capabilities of low-speed packs, see Chapter 4, Product description.
Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX equipment must be installed in cabinets that have demonstrated compliance in accordance with GR-487 and all other specifications as required by this document. A cabinet that does not meet the requirements of this specification will negatively affect the performance, reduce service life, and threaten service continuity of any Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX system.
A system failure alarm must be provided for cabinet cooling systems with forced air ventilation and other heat exchanger systems
A temperature sensor must be located in the electrical equipment compartment to provide a high temperature alarm when an internal cabinet temperature of 65ºC is reached. The air temperature must be measured at the inlet of the upper-most Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX shelf.
