Use this procedure to change the Slot Protection State for a Function/Growth group equipped with low-speed OLIU circuit packs.
For information about provisioning the Slot Protection State of LNW170 100/1G FXS circuit packs, refer to Procedure 11-46: Create/Modify/Delete link aggregation group (LAG).
Important!
Only Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX shelves equipped with the Very Large Fabric LNW59, LNW82, or LNW504 OLIU circuit packs in the Main slots support changing the Slot Protection State for a Function/Growth group equipped with low-speed OLIU circuit packs.
For Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet (except LNW170 100/1G FXS), Fibre Channel, and DWDM circuit packs, the Slot Protection State is fixed Unprotected.
For DS1/E1, DS3/EC1, TMUX, and high-speed OLIU circuit packs, the Slot Protection State is fixed Protected.
You must log in as a Privileged or General user to complete this procedure.
The Slot Protection State for all low-speed OLIU circuit packs, except the LNW55 multirate OLIU circuit pack, is dependent on the individual port Application parameters.
When the port Application parameter is provisioned to 0x1 for all ports on a low-speed OLIU circuit pack, the Slot Protection State changes to Unprotected. When at least one port Application parameter is provisioned for a protected application (for example, 1+1), the Slot Protection State changes to Protected.
The Slot Protection State affects both slots in the Function/Growth group.
The Slot Protection State for LNW55 multirate OLIU circuit packs is dependent on the individual port Signal Type parameters and Application parameters.
When either the Application parameter is provisioned to 0x1 or the Signal Type parameter is provisioned to STNA for all ports on the LNW55 circuit pack, the Slot Protection State changes to Unprotected. When at least one port Signal Type parameter is provisioned to an OC-n rate and the Application parameter is provisioned to a protected application (for example, 1+1), the Slot Protection State changes to Protected.
The Slot Protection State affects both slots in the Function/Growth group.
Prior to performing this procedure:
Refer to Required equipment and Before you begin in this chapter.
Verify that the work instructions identify any required circuit pack/port provisioning.
Use the work instructions and select View → Equipment to access the circuit pack details and determine if the Main slots are equipped with Very Large Fabric LNW59, LNW82, or LNW504 OLIU circuit packs.
Complete the following steps to change the Slot Protection State of a Function/Growth group.
