Procedure 7-11: Set/change system TID

- Overview

Use this procedure to set or change the system Target Identifier (TID).

Important!

The system TID is generally provisioned before the system is integrated into a network. Do not change the system TID unless you are reconfiguring the network and have been directed to do so.

- Privilege level

You must log in as a Privileged user to complete this procedure.

- Before you begin

Prior to performing this procedure:

  1. Refer to Before you begin and Required equipment in this chapter.

  2. Obtain the TID from your work instructions.

Steps

Complete the following steps to set or change the system Target Identifier (TID).

1

Obtain the TID (also known as NE Name) from the work instructions.

Important!

The TID is a case-insensitive character string from 1 to 20 characters and must be unique for each NE in the ring. The allowed characters are

  • Letters from "a" to "z" and "A" to "Z".

  • Numbers from "0" to "9".

  • Special characters "-" (hyphen) and "." (period).

2

From the System View menu, select Administration → Set TID, then:

  1. In the New TID: box, enter the new TID.

  2. Confirm your entry in the Confirm TID: box.

  3. Click the OK button.

  4. A warning message appears stating that the execution of this command will terminate all active login sessions. Read the message, then click Yes.

Result:

The TID is changed, the system resets, and you are logged off the system.

After the TID of an existing BLSR node is changed, a View → Refresh System View must be performed at the remaining nodes in the BLSR network to update the source node (Location A) and destination node (Location Z) TIDs in the local cross-connection maps.
