High-speed 8OC3/12/48/16DS1/3DS3 VLF Main (LNW84)

Overview

LNW84 circuit packs are full-height and occupy slot M1/A1/B1 and M2/A2/B2. It is an OSP-hardened, multi-port, multi-rate VLF Main circuit pack.

Optical specification

The LNW84 OC3/OC12/OC48 OLIU circuit pack is an 8-port, PTM-based, multi-rate (8 OC-3, 8 OC-12, 2 OC-48), high-speed optical circuit pack with 16 DS1 and 3 DS3 interfaces.

The LNW84 circuit pack and some of the supported OC-N PTMs are approved for OSP deployments. You must install PTMs that are approved for industrial temperatures to use the LNW84 in OSP environments. All of the DWDM PTMs are approved for commercial temperatures and are therefore only approved for Central Office environments.

The LNW84 OLIU circuit pack supports a maximum of 8 OC-3 ports, 8 OC-12 ports, or 2 OC-48 ports. Mixing port optical rates is supported with the following restrictions:

The table below lists the OC-3. OC-12, and OC-48 Pluggable Transmission Modules (PTMs), also known as small form-factor plug-ins (SFPs), that may be used in the LNW84 circuit pack.

Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend utilizes Pluggable Transmission Module (PTM) optics on the LNW84 circuit pack. To ensure proper optical performance, mechanical fit, compliance with EMC, and compliance with laser safety standards, the Alcatel-Lucent specified PTM transceivers listed in the table below must be used.

Only the Alcatel-Lucent specified PTM transceivers listed below are compatible with Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend software. If non-Alcatel-Lucent specified PTM transceivers are installed in Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend, the system will reject that transceiver, and that optical port will become inoperable (until approved parts are installed).

Electrical specification

The LNW84 circuit pack provides for the transport of 16 DS1 (1.544 Mbps) signals and 3 DS3 (44.736 Mbps) signals and maps them into STS-1 (51.84 Mbps) signals.

All electric interface circuit packs are 1+1 hardware protected. Each LNW84 occupies a full height slot in the space used for one half-height main and one half-height FNA/B pack. Equipment protection for the DS1 and DS3 ports is provided across a pair of LNW84 packs. When M1/A1/B1 and M2/A2/B2 are equipped with the LNW84 circuit packs, the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend shelf supports 16 DS1 and 3 DS3 working ports. Depending on the equipage of the other slots, the shelf could support more DS1s and/or DS3s.
