Procedure 7-4: Enable/disable lockout security state

- Overview

Use this procedure to:

  • Enable all non-privileged user IDs to access to a network element

  • Lockout all non-privileged user IDs from the network element.

- Privilege level

You must log in as a Privileged user to complete this procedure.

- Before you begin

Prior to performing this procedure, refer to Before you begin and Required equipment in this chapter.

Steps

Complete the following steps to enable or disable the lockout security state.

If...

Then...

Enabling all non-privileged user IDs to access the network element,

From the System View menu, select Administration → Security → Disable Lockout Security State.

A dialog box appears asking you to confirm executing this command. Click Yes.

Locking out all non-privileged user IDs from the network element,

From the System View menu, select Administration → Security → Enable Lockout Security State.

A dialog box appears asking you to confirm executing this command. Click Yes.

From the System View menu, select Administration → Data Communications.

  • From the Serial Port tab, verify the Access State information for the CIT Port (In Service or Lockout).

  • From the OSI LAN Management tab, verify the Access State information for the LAN Port (In Service or Lockout).
