Procedure 4-8: Provision DS3/EC1 circuit packs/ports for service
Before you begin
Prior to performing this procedure:

Steps
Complete the following steps to provision a DS3/EC1 circuit packs/ports for service.

From the System View window, click the Alarm List button to verify that no alarms, loopbacks, protection switch lockouts, or protection switches are present for the ports to be provisioned. Result: The NE Alarm List appears. |

From the System View menu, select Configuration → Equipment. Result: The Configure Equipment window opens. |

Find and highlight the DS3/EC1 circuit pack being provisioned, then click Select at the bottom of the window. Result: The circuit pack parameters appear. |

Provision the required circuit pack parameters according to the work instructions, then click Apply if changes were made. If no changes were made, go to the next step. Result: A dialog box appears asking you to confirm executing this command. Click Yes to apply the changes. |

Click Close to exit or continue with the next step to provision ports. |

Find the DS3/EC-1 circuit pack with the ports being provisioned, then expand the equipment list by clicking on the plus (+) sign next to the DS3/EC-1 circuit pack. |

Click (highlight) the DS3/EC-1 port being provisioned, then click Select at the bottom of the window. Result: The port parameters appear. |

Select and provision the required port parameters, according to your work instructions. |

Important! DS3 ports do not support J0 section trace. If required, provision J0 section trace for the EC-1 port. Reference: Procedure 6-13: Provision J0 section trace |

If required, provision the port control plane parameters. Reference: Procedure 9-11: Establish external network-to-network interface (E-NNI) |

Important! The parameter settings may be applied to the selected port only or all ports on the circuit pack. Select This Port or All Ports, This Pack in the Apply to: field according to the work instructions. |

Click Apply to make provisioning changes. If no changes were made, continue with the next step. Result: If All Ports, This Pack was selected in the Apply to: field, a dialog box appears asking if you want to apply all parameter settings on the screen. Click Yes or No as required. A dialog box may appear asking you to confirm executing this command. Verify that you are provisioning the correct DS3/EC-1 port, then click Yes to apply your changes. |

If required, repeat this procedure to provision another DS3/EC-1 circuit pack/port. End of steps |
