Procedure 7-7: Allow/inhibit autonomous message reporting

- Overview

Use this procedure to allow or inhibit autonomous message reporting for the current login session.

Allowing autonomous messages enables you to receive all active alarm and status conditions from the NE through autonomous messages for the current login session. Inhibiting this feature disables the reporting of all autonomous messages for the current login session.

Autonomous message reporting is allowed/inhibited on an individual user basis for the current login session. Every login session begins with the autonomous messages allowed.

- Privilege level

You must log in as a Privileged, Administration, General, Maintenance, or Reports Only user to complete this procedure.

Prior to performing this procedure:

  1. Refer to Before you begin and Required equipment in this chapter.

  2. Obtain the work instructions for this procedure.

Steps

Perform the following steps to enable/disable autonomous message reporting for this user for the current login session.

From the System View menu, select Administration → Allow/Inhibit Autonomous Message Reporting → Current Session.

Result:

The Allow/Inhibit Autonomous Messages window opens. The current state of autonomous message reporting is displayed, Allow or Inhibit. Every login session begins with autonomous message reporting allowed.

Important!

Autonomous message reporting is enabled (Allow) or disabled (Inhibit) on an individual user basis for the current login session.

Select Allow to enable autonomous message reporting for this session, or select Inhibit to disable reporting for this session, as required.

Did you change the autonomous message reporting state?

If...

Then...

Yes

Click OK at bottom of the window, read the caution message, then click Yes to execute the command.

No

Click Cancel to exit.
