Procedure 4-25: Provision optical transport signal (OTS) port

- Overview

Use this procedure to provision an Optical Transport Section (OTS) port for service. An OTS port is comprised of up to eight multiplexed optical channels (OCH).

- Privilege level

You must log in as a Privileged or General user to complete this procedure.

- Before you begin

Prior to performing this procedure:

  1. Refer to Required equipment and Before you begin in this chapter.

  2. Obtain work instructions for this procedure.

  3. Ensure that the required circuit pack is installed. If the circuit pack is not installed, refer to Procedure 4-24: Install DWDM optical multiplexer/demultiplexer circuit packs .

Steps

Complete the following steps to provision an Optical Transport Section (OTS) port for service.

From the System View menu, click the Alarm List button to verify that no alarms are present for the circuit packs to be provisioned.

Result:

The NE Alarm List appears.

From the System View menu, select Configuration → Equipment.

Result:

The Configure Equipment window opens.

Find and click (highlight) the OTS port and click Select at the bottom of the window.

Result:

The OTS port parameters appear.

Provision the required OTS parameters according to the work instructions, then click Apply if changes were made. If no changes were made, click Close to exit.
