Procedure 5-7: Address VLNC64 circuit pack SNMP traps

- Overview

Use this procedure to address VLNC64-related SNMP traps.

If the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5 shelf is equipped with a VLNC64 Circuit Emulation Mini-Hub circuit pack, service-affecting incoming signal failures and equipment failures are reported using circuit pack faceplate LED indicators and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) traps.

To address VLNC64 circuit pack related failures, refer to Procedure 5-3: Address VLNC40/42/42B, VLNC60/61/62, or VLNC64 circuit pack related failures.

- Before you begin

Prior to performing this procedure:

  1. Refer to Before you begin and Required equipment in this chapter.

  2. Refer to Electrostatic discharge in Chapter 1, Safety.

Steps

Complete the following steps to address VLNC64-related SNMP traps.

1

From the Web-based GUI select System → Trap Manager → Trap Log (show logging traplogs) to obtain the Trap Log showing SNMP trap statistics and events.

  2. On the 1588 Slave system, if the trap is for change of Master node, then ensure that the Master node has no problems in 1588 using. Use the command show ptp-1588 for the purpose.

  3. On the 1588 Master system, if the trap is for change in clock quality or accuracy, then ensure that the system timing source of 1588 is a good signal.

ptp1588MasterOper ationalModeChange

The trap reports the value of ptp1588OperationalMode as part of the notification message.

If the reported value is master(1) or slave(2), ensure that it is the intended operational mode of the system.

If the reported value is passive(3), the system has detected another 1588 master in the network. Ensure that this is the intended behavior of the system. If not, take corrective action to remove the other master in the network.
