Procedure 5-12: Provision local access control

- Overview

Use this procedure to co-ordinate access to the NE between the Web GUI and a Network Management System (NMS), such as Alcatel-Lucent 1350 OMS).

VLNC42B in TMPLS mode and VLNC6x support management using LAC.

In many deployments, an NMS and Web GUI are both used to manage Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5. Simultaneous configuration changes executed by the NMS and Web GUI may result in an inconsistent database and undesirable behavior. To avoid this possible conflict, local access control allows configuration (read-write) access via only one system, either the NMS or the Web GUI. Note that both may have read access simultaneously.

Note:

If there are multiple Web GUI sessions, all the sessions are impacted by a LACState value change. If LACState is Requested/Denied, all directly connected Web GUI sessions switch to Read-only mode and the NMS is Read-Write. Similarly, if LACState is Requested/Granted, all sessions invoked via an NMS switch to Read-only mode and the Web GUI session are Read-Write.

Step

1

From the Navigation menu, select System → Configuration → LAC Configuration.

Result:

The LAC Configuration window opens.

2

Configure the following LAC parameters:

  • LACState configuration: Requested, Denied

When LACState is Denied, ALL configuration screens are read-only. However, LAC configuration screen for the LAC state value remains read-write.

  • Allowed timeout period (Min): Enter the timeout value (in minutes). If no response is received from the NMS during the timeout peroid, the LACState changes to GRANTED. Range is 1 to 30 (default 3).

3

Click Submit to send the updated screen to the switch, or click Remove to remove the selected server from the configuration.
