Procedure 5-4.2: Set the service mode of the VLNC42B

- Overview

Use this procedure to set the service mode of the VLNC42B to TMPLS or Bridging.

If you set the mode to TMPLS, the circuit pack supports TMPLS and associated features on the circuit pack. If you set the mode to Bridging, the pack supports Ethernet switching and the associated features on the circuit pack. The default mode is tmpls.

Login to the VLNC4x.

From the Navigation menu, select System → Configuration → Service Mode.

Equivalent CLI command: From the Global Config Mode, service-mode {tmpls | bridging}.

Result:

The Service Mode Configuration window displays the current configuration.

Service-disruption hazard

Changing the service-mode parameter setting clears the existing configuration and also resets the circuit pack.

Do not change the service-mode parameter setting on an in-service system unless you are directed to do so from another procedure.

Enter TMPLS or Bridging as required, then click Submit.

Equivalent CLI command:

  • From the Global Config Mode, enter service-mode tmpls to set the service mode to tmpls.

  • From the Global Config Mode, enter service-mode bridging to set the service mode to bridging.
