Procedure 9-5: Create Layer 2 encapsulation profile (L2ENCAPPROF)

Overview

Use this procedure to create a Layer 2 encapsulation profile to define the configuration of MAC DA and other parameters for the encapsulation of MPLS over ethernet.

The Layer 2 Encapsulation Profile is referenced by the Tunnel Segment or PW Segment. The user is allowed to create/delete/modify the L2 Encapsulation Profile as well as view all L2 Encapsulation Profiles in the system. The maximum number of user-defined L2ENCAPPROF profiles is 31. In the System there is a pre-defined L2 encapsulation profile identified by L2ENCAPPROF-1 AID, MAC-DA= all and TAG=UNTAGGED. Note that the L2ENCAPPROF-1 profile is a system default profile and cannot be deleted or modified.

Step


1	Login to the VLNC42B.
2	From the Navigation menu, select TMPLS → L2 Encapsulation Profile → L2 Encapsulation Profile. Equivalent TLI command: `ent-l2encap-prof`. Result: The L2 Encapsulation Profile screen displays.
3	Select `Create` in the L2 Encapsulation Profile drop-down box to create a new profile. Select an existing profile to modify. The drop-down list contains "Create" and all L2 Encapsulation Profiles (except L2ENCAPPROF-1) in the system. If "Create" is selected, a unique L2 Encapsulation Profile AID will be assigned by the system. The name of the L2 Encapsulation Profile AID will be a number pre-appended with "L2ENCAPPROF-". For example, the profile name for the AID 2 will be L2ENCAPPROF-2". The valid profile AID number includes an integer in the range of 2 to 32. Note that the profile AID, L2ENCAPPROF-1, is a system default profile and cannot be deleted or modified. It is not included in the drop-down list.
4	Enter the parameters as required, then click Submit. Equivalent TLI command: `ENT-L2ENCAP-PROF:[TID]::[CTAG]:::MAC-DA=, TAG= [,VLAN-ID=] [,PRIORITY=];`. Example: `ENT-L2ENCAP-PROF:::TS001:::MAC-DA=002060123456,TAG=TAGGED,VLAN-ID=100;`. Parameters: MAC Destination Address (`MAC-DA`) — Medium Access Control Address, it is the MAC Destination Address to be used in case of mapping of MPLS over Ethernet when a switched network is present. Value: 12 hexadecimal characters. Tagged Flag (`TAG`) — TAGGED or UNTAGGED. VLAN ID (`VLAN-ID`) — Specifies the VLAN ID to be used in the case of mapping of MPLS over Ethernet when a switched network is present. Only applies if the TAG Flag field (see above) is Tagged. Value: Integer in the range of 1 - 4094. Priority (`Priority`)— The priority value for Tagged Ethernet Frame. Only applies if the TAG Flag field (see above) is Tagged. Valid values: integer in the range of 0 - 7. The default value is 0. Result: L2 Encapsulation Profile AID is created. This output parameter is used to refer to this profile in ED-L2ENCAP-PROF, RTRV-L2ENCAP-PROF and DLTL2ENCAP- PROF commands. It is also used to refer to this profile by a TUSEG (see ENT-TMPLS-TUSEG and ED-TMPLS-TUSEG commands). End of steps
