To verify the rngd service startup
Purpose
Perform this procedure to ensure that the RHEL rngd service is loaded and running on each NFM-P component.
Note: If FIPS is enabled at the OS level, the procedure is not required, as the rngd service is disabled in RHEL 8.4 and later if FIPS is enabled.
Note: You must perform the steps on each NFM-P component station.
Steps

Log in as the root user on the station that hosts the OS. |

Open a console window. |

Enter the following: # systemctl status rngd.service ↵ The service status is displayed; if the status includes the following, the service is loaded and running: Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/rngd.service; enabled; vendor preset) Active: active (running) since timestamp; uptime where timestamp is the service startup time uptime is the amount of time since the service startup |

If the status output indicates that the service is not loaded and running, enter the following to start the service: # systemctl enable rngd.service ↵ # systemctl start rngd.service ↵ The service starts. |
