How do I create an OAM test?

Purpose

Use this procedure to configure test parameters. See How do I execute an OAM test? to run the tests.

Test creation with IP Edge NEs

For tests involving IP Edge NEs, that is, tests where at least one entity involves a 7705 SAR or 7210 SAS NE, the destination MAC address used by the test varies based on the use case. The correct value must be entered to ensure a valid test. The following table describes the behavior.

MEP

The Destination entity field is configured.

The Destination-mac-address field can be configured or not.

The operational MAC address of the remote MEP selected as the destination entity is used as the target MAC address. The destination MAC address entered is ignored.

ELAN or ELINE -EndPoint or Tunnel-binding

No MEP currently exists

The destination MAC address provided by the user is used as the target MAC address.

The user must enter a valid destination MAC address.

ELAN or ELINE -EndPoint or Tunnel-binding

A MEP already exists

The operational MAC address of the remote MEP in the destination entity is used as the target MAC address. The destination MAC address entered is ignored.

Steps
 

Open Data Collection and Analysis Management, Tests.

In the Create OAM Test form that opens, select the Test type and Entity type.


Click on the Service field if applicable:

  1. Select an attribute in the drop-down list, then enter values for that attribute in the field. As you type, the list is filtered for services that match your input.

  2. Click png15.png as required to add additional filter criteria.

  3. Choose an entity from the list and click SELECT.


Select an entity reference type if applicable.


Click on the Source test entity field:

  1. Select an attribute in the drop-down list, then enter values for that attribute in the field. As you type, the list is filtered for entities that match your input.

  2. Click png15.png as required to add additional filter criteria.

  3. Choose an entity from the list and click SELECT.


Click on the Destination test entity field:

  1. Select an attribute in the drop-down list, then enter values for that attribute in the field. As you type, the list is filtered for entities that match your input.

  2. Click png15.png as required to add additional filter criteria.

  3. Choose an entity from the list and click SELECT.


Choose a test template. The test parameters are displayed.


Configure the test parameters.

Verify the parameters in the Advanced field.

Click CREATE. The test appears in the list of tests.
