Workflow to configure BGP and MP-BGP

Stages
 

Enable BGP on a routing instance; see To enable BGP on a routing instance .


If BGP mesh scaling is an issue due to the number of NEs in an AS, configure a BGP confederation; see To configure a BGP confederation .


If you are configuring MP-BGP, enable multicast IPv4 on the base routing instance of each NE that is to participate in a VPRN; see To configure global-level BGP and Chapter 79, VPRN service management .


Create at least one BGP peer group; see To configure peer-group-level BGP .


Configure peer-level BGP as required; see To configure peer-level BGP .


Configure BGP SIDR prefix origin validation as required; see To configure BGP SIDR prefix origin validation .


Configure long-lived graceful restart as required; see To configure long-lived graceful restart on a BGP site.


Enable or disable BGP peering as required; see To enable or disable BGP peering .
