Prepare for upgrade

Perform To prepare for an NSP system upgrade to do the following:

• back up the NSP system configuration, databases, and file service data

• download the NSP installation software

• verify the cluster readiness for the upgrade

• perform special upgrade preconfiguration

Upgrade NSP cluster

Perform To upgrade an NSP cluster, which has the following step sections in the order shown below:

• Back up NSP deployer host configuration files

• Disable SELinux enforcing mode

• Apply OS update to NSP deployer host

• Prepare for Kubernetes upgrade

• Upgrade Kubernetes registry

• Configure Kubernetes deployer

• Restore NSP system files

• The following operations can be performed concurrently:

  • Configure NSP software

  • Upgrade auxiliary database

    Note: Skip this stage if your deployment includes NFM-P.

• Stop and undeploy NSP cluster, scenario 1—marks the beginning of the network management outage

  or Stop and undeploy NSP cluster, scenario 2—marks the beginning of the network management outage

• Apply OS update to NSP cluster VMs

• If you manually installed RHEL OS, To prepare DRBD kernel modules for RHEL 8 nodes

• Upgrade Kubernetes deployment environment

• Install Kubernetes secrets

• Restore NSP Data

• Monitor NSP initialization

• Verify upgraded NSP cluster operation—marks the end of the network management outage

• Upgrade MDM adaptors

• Upgrade or enable additional components and systems

• Purge Kubernetes image files

• Purge NSP image files

• Restore SELinux enforcing mode

• Import NFM-P users and groups

• Remove path-control subscriptions

• Restore classic telemetry collection

• Synchronize LSP paths
