How do I upgrade a controller?

If the optical controller version has been upgraded, NSP must also be updated to align with the new version.

This procedure assumes that a WaveSuite optical controller that was previously integrated with NSP has been upgraded, and the controller state in IP/Optical Coordination is Sync Failed or UP. Execute this procedure to complete the upgrade in NSP.

Back up the cross-domain links using the IP/Optical Coordination API. See https://nspIP/nrcx/doc/.

where

nspIP is the IP address of the NSP cluster

From the NSP main menu, open IP/Optical Coordination, Controller and Simulator.

Initiate Sync with Network for the controller.

The Controller state in the IP/Optical Coordination, at the Controller view, is displayed as Version Mismatch.

Change the Controller Version to the controller version it has been upgraded to.

Click the Update button.

Wait for the controller sync to succeed after the update operation and ensure all the optical services, link layer interconnects, and physical links on the network map get discovered successfully.

Initiate the Restore CDL option via the IP/Optical Coordination API to restore the cross-domain links.

Ensure all the cross-domain links are restored and link layer interconnect links are discovered.
