What is Artifact Designer?

The Artifact Designer is an entity that enables access to both the SDK application and NSP application to facilitate adaptor development.

Platform requirements

The Artifact Designer installation is supported on the following platforms:

  • Microsoft Windows

  • RHEL

  • Mac

How do I install the Artifact Designer?

The following steps describe how to install the Artifact Designer on a Microsoft Windows or on a RHEL or on a Mac station.

  1. Download the Artifact Designer installer from the NSP downloads page on the Nokia Support portal.
    • For Microsoft Windows — nsp-artifact-designer-<version>.exe

    • For RHEL — nsp-artifact-designer-<version>.AppImage

    • For Mac — nsp-artifact-designer-<version>.dmg

  2. If you are installing the Artifact Designer on Windows, double-click the executable file. An installation wizard is displayed.

  3. Follow the prompts to specify the client installation directory, whether you want a desktop shortcut created, and whether to run the Artifact Designer when the installation is complete, as required.

    After you click Finish, the Artifact Designer installation begins.

  4. If you are installing the Artifact Designer on RHEL, the AppImage runs as a self-contained executable, so no explicit installation is required.

  5. Similarly, on Mac, right click on the executable file and click Open.

How do I launch the Artifact Designer?

On Microsoft Windows

  • Double-click the Artifact Designer icon on the Windows desktop; alternately, you can launch the client from the Start menu.

On RHEL

  • Open a console window and navigate to the folder where the Artifact Designer AppImage file is located. You must set the execute permission for the file.

    For example, chmod +x nsp-artifact-designer-<version>.AppImage

  • Execute the following command to launch the Artifact Designer:

    ./nsp-artifact-designer-<version>.AppImage --no-sandbox

On Mac

  • Move the Artifact Designer application to the Applications folder. The NSP Artifact Designer application can then be accessed through Applications or Launchpad.

Working with the Artifact Designer

The left navigation panel of the Artifact Designer GUI displays all the configured SDK and NSP application instances, with SDK-LOCALHOST being the default entry that is mapped to the SDK application running in the local station.

The Artifact Designer will interact with the configured applications; if the application server is accessible, the application instance will be displayed in green, otherwise in red.

Clicking the Refresh button at the bottom of the left navigation panel will display the most recent status of the configured application instance.

How do I add the SDK or the NSP application instance?

  1. Click ADD SDK/NSP URL button at the bottom of left navigation panel.

    The Add SDK/NSP URL dialog box opens.

  2. In the URL field, enter the IP address of your application server.

  3. In the Name field, enter the name of the application.

  4. Click Save.

How do I access the SDK or the NSP application instance?

Double-click on the desired application, or click png4.png against the desired application and click Open. Each application will open in a new window/view.

Note: Multiple instances of the same application will open in new tabs, enabling you to reference information against the current view or continue working in the current view.

How do I edit the SDK or the NSP application instance?

  1. Click png4.png against the desired application and click Rename/Edit URL.

    The Edit SDK/NSP URL dialog box opens.

  2. In the URL field, update the IP address of your application.

  3. In the Name field, change the name of the application.

  4. Click Save.

How do I delete the SDK or the NSP application instance?

Click png4.png against the desired application and click Delete.

How do I uninstall the Artifact Designer?

The following steps describe how to remove the Artifact Designer from a station.

  1. Close the Artifact Designer GUI, if it is open.

  2. For Microsoft Windows, open the Windows Control Panel, select the Artifact Designer and click Uninstall. Click Yes or OK, as required, to acknowledge any confirmation or security prompts that are displayed.

    The Artifact Designer software is uninstalled.

  3. For RHEL, delete the folder containing the Artifact Designer AppImage file.

  4. For Mac, move the Artifact Designer application from the Applications folder to the Trash.
