Geographical high availability

Purpose

This topic shows the Lucent CM components in a geographical high availability configuration on two locations. The configuration does not show any additional supporting network elements such as routers, DNS servers, or LDAP servers.

Geographical HA versus HA

Geographical high availability provides higher availability over ordinary high availability. In geographical high availability even when a complete site is lost, the full Lucent CM system capacity is maintained.

Geographical high availability requires more nodes to get a same capacity as ordinary high availability.

In ordinary high availability the loss of a complete site, result in the loss of the entire Lucent CM system.

The application nodes are set up in a N+N configuration. The database nodes are paired.

Geographical HA configurations

Geographical high availability (HA) configurations are:

Growth for geographical HA configuration

To increase capacity, you can:

When changing to a configuration with application and database node, initial capacity is not increased. The capacity increase is done by adding application and database nodes. When adding nodes, a 8:2 ratio must be maintained between application nodes and database nodes.
