This topic shows the Lucent CM components in a high availability configuration on a single location. The configuration does not show any additional supporting network elements such as routers, DNS servers, or LDAP servers.
Single location high availability (HA) configurations are:
High availability with universal nodes
High availability with application and database nodes in a single zone
High availability with database nodes in secure zone
In a high availability configuration with universal nodes, the universal nodes are set up in a 1+1 configuration.
In a high availability configuration with application and database nodes, the application nodes are set up in an N+1 configuration. The database nodes are paired.
The simplest high availability configuration consists of two universal nodes. Each node contains both the Lucent CM application and the Lucent CM databases. The internal network of nodes must be on the same network.
The capacity of a two U-node high availability configuration is the same as a simplex one U-node configuration.

Single location, high availability configuration with application nodes in the demilitarized zone and database nodes in secure zone:
To increase capacity, you can:
Add pairs of U-nodes.
Change to a configuration with application node and database nodes and add nodes.
When changing to a configuration with application and database node, initial capacity is not increased. The capacity increase is done by adding application and database nodes. When adding nodes, a 4:2 ratio must be maintained between application nodes and database nodes.
