This topic shows the Lucent CM components in a simplex configuration. The configuration does not show any additional supporting network elements such as routers, DNS servers, or LDAP servers.
Simplex configurations are:
Simplex with universal nodes
Simplex application and database nodes
The smallest and simplest Lucent CM configuration is a simplex configuration. The simplex configuration consists of one node that contains both the Lucent CM application and the Lucent CM databases. This node is known as a universal node (U-node). The universal node is located in a demilitarized zone.
Single location, simplex configuration:
The one U-node simplex configuration can be easily expanded.
To increase capacity, you can:
Add up to nine U-nodes.
Change to a configuration with application node and database nodes and add nodes.
When changing to a configuration with application and database node, initial capacity is not increased. The capacity increase is done by adding application and database nodes. When adding nodes, a 4:1 ratio must be maintained between application nodes and database nodes.
The simplex configuration can also be upgraded to a high availability configuration. High availability can be configured by adding a universal node to the existing universal node. This does not increase the capacity.
High availability can also be configured by change the existing universal node to an application node and adding an application node and a pair of database nodes. This also increases the capacity.
