Download and install Lucent CM Explorer administration client

Purpose

This topic describes the steps to download and install the Lucent CM Explorer administration client for the first time.

When to perform

This procedure is performed when you start using the Lucent CM Explorer client for the first time on a PC.

If you start a previously downloaded and installed Lucent CM Explorer, Java Web Start checks if a newer version is available.

If a newer version is available, Java Web Start automatically downloads and installs the new version.

Before you begin

To perform this procedure you need a URL to a web page that contains the Lucent CM Explorer software.

The URL from which you launch the Lucent CM Explorer client, determines which node you are connected to.

The URL has one of the following formats:

https://<node_hostname>:8843/lps/admin/home.jsp (recommended) for a secure connection

http://<node_hostname>:8888/lps/admin/home.jsp for a non-secure connection

The <node hostname> must be a fully qualified host name.

Download and install

Perform the following steps to download and install the Lucent CM Explorer client:

Enter the URL in your web browser.

Result: When you used, an HTTPS URL to download the administration client, you may get a security warning.

The download page opens.

Enter your User ID and Password and click Login.

Click Launch the admin client.

Result: When you used, an HTTPS URL to download the administration client, you may get security warnings. You must click Yes on these warnings to start the download of the administration client.

The Lucent CM Explorer starts downloading.

Enter your account name and password.

The default account name is: sadmin

The default password is: sadmin

If ...	then ...
you want to create desktop and start menu shortcuts,	click Yes
you do not want to create desktop and start menu shortcuts,	click No
you want to configure Java settings,	click Configure Make changes to the Java settings Click OK Select if you want shortcuts.

Result: When downloading and installation completes, the client is available at your Windows Start menu at Programs → Lucent CM Admin (<username>) and if selected, through desktop and short-cut icons.
