Purpose

This topic describes how to change the role of a Lucent CM node.

The roles of a Lucent CM node are:

Where to perform

The roles of Lucent CM nodes are defined and changed in the Lucent CM System → Nodes folder of the Lucent CM Explorer administration client.

DANGER

CAUTION

Service-disruption hazard

Service is interrupted during reconfiguration actions.

To minimize impact:

Change U-node to A-node

Task StepsPerform the following steps:

1

Select the node you want to change.

Result:  The Node Info tab displays.

2

If ...

Then ...

The U-node does NOT have a peer database node,

add a new node to the Lucent CM system.

Without an additional node, you cannot change the role of the node.

3

Uncheck Database.

4

Click Update.

Result:  A service interruption warning displays.

5

Click Yes to continue.

Result:  A reconfiguration session starts.

6

When prompted, enter the SSH passphrase of the Lucent CM node.

End of steps

Change U-node to D-node

Important!  Launch the Lucent CM Eplorer administration client from a different node than the node you want to change.

An error message displays when you attempt to change the role of the node when you launch the Lucent CM Explorer administration client from the same node you want to change.

Task StepsPerform the following steps:

Uncheck Lucent CM Application and Load Balancer.

3

Click Update.

Result:  A service interruption warning displays.

4

Click Yes to continue.

Result:  A reconfiguration session starts.

5

When prompted, enter the SSH passphrase of the Lucent CM node.

End of steps

Change A-node to U-node

Task StepsPerform the following steps:

1

Select the node you want to change.

Result:  The Node Info tab displays.

2

  • Check Database

  • Select a Peer Node.

The peer node can be a new segment or an existing node.

End of steps

Change A-node to D-node

Task StepsPerform the following steps:
