8-port, high-speed OC-48/OC-192 VLF Main (LNW504)

Optical specification

The LNW504 OC48/OC-192 OLIU circuit pack is an 8-port, PTM-based, multi-rate (OC-48/OC-192), high-speed optical circuit pack.

The LNW504 high-speed circuit pack is an 8-port, multi-port., multi-rate (MPMR) OC-48/OC-192 VLF Main circuit pack. LNW504 pack supports up to 4 OC-192 interfaces or up to 3 OC-192 interfaces and 4 OC-48 interfaces and has integrated STS and VT fabrics.

Note:

Because the four OC-48 lines and the fourth OC-192 line share the same internal resources, the operation of OC-48 lines 5–8 is mutually exclusive of the operation of OC-192 line 4.

Mixed interface rates are supported with the following restrictions.

Note:

The LNW504 faceplate port numbering starts from the bottom of the pack. Port 1 is at the bottom and port 8 is at the top.

The table below lists the OC-48 and OC-192 Pluggable Transmission Modules (PTMs) that may be used in the LNW504 circuit pack.

Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX utilizes Pluggable Transmission Module (PTM) optics on the LNW504 circuit pack. To ensure proper optical performance, mechanical fit, compliance with EMC, and compliance with laser safety standards, the Alcatel-Lucent specified PTM transceivers listed in the table below must be used.

Only the Alcatel-Lucent specified PTM transceivers listed below are compatible with Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX software. If non-Alcatel-Lucent specified PTM transceivers are installed in Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX, the system will reject that transceiver, and that optical port will become inoperable (until approved parts are installed).

  1. Due to thermal limitations, the OC192SR1-C1, OC192IR2-C1, OC192LR2-C1, some DWDM (X10G21C5 to X10G28C5 and X10G52C5 to X10G59C5) should not be used in high altitudes otherwise marginal performance (even LOS) may be observed.
