Procedure 11-36: Provision LNW73/LNW73C FC-DPORT circuit pack parameters

- Overview

This procedure provides a list of provisionable parameters for Data circuit packs.

- Privilege level

You must login as either a Privileged or General user to complete this procedure.

- Before you begin

Prior to performing this procedure, refer to Before you begin and Required equipment in this chapter and you must have complete work instructions for this procedure that detail:

  • The network configuration and the terminating nodes.

  • The values to be set for each parameter.

Steps

Use this procedure as a reference for provisioning Data circuit pack parameters.

1

Use the ed-eqpt TL1 command or select Configuration → Equipment from the System View menu. Select the FC Data circuit pack being provisioned, then click Select.

2

Use Table 11-10, ED-EQPT command provisionable parameters as reference to provision the necessary parameters from your work instructions.

End of steps

ED-EQPT command parameters

Table 11-10, ED-EQPT command provisionable parameters lists the provisionable parameters for the Data circuit packs:

Table 11-10: ED-EQPT command provisionable parameters

Parameter

Description

type

Equipment TypeWhen addressed to a slot AID, the legal value is DATA (Ethernet circuit pack).

Other values are valid when the slot is not equipped with a Data pack.

datatype

Data Type.

Sets the protocol data type for the circuit pack.

Values for Data Type:

  • FC-FICON ― Fibre Channel (FC) and Fiber Connection (FICON). In this mode, data ports can be configured individually for FC or FICON.

  • ESCON ― Enterprise Systems Connection (ESCON). In this mode, all ports on the circuit pack are set for ESCON.

Changing the value of datatype will cause the target data circuit pack to reset, which may take up to several minutes to complete. Until the pack reset is complete, subsequent provisioning commands directed toward the pack may not complete and may cause a transient pack failure.

This parameter cannot be changed if there are any existing cross connections or loopbacks.

This parameter applies only to the LNW73/LNW73C circuit pack.
