Important!
This is not a standalone procedure. Perform this procedure only as directed by Procedure 9-12: Establish DWDM network.
Important!
This procedure assumes that the DWDM point-to-point network is established by interconnecting two Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX equipped as DWDM End Terminal nodes. However, the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX may also be connected in a DWDM point-to-point network with an Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-100 or Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-320 equipped as a DWDM End Terminal node.
If connecting to an Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend, refer to the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 Data Multiplexer Extend (DMXtend) User Operations Guide, 365-372-325, as required, when performing this procedure.
If connecting to an Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend, refer to the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 Data Multiplexer (DMX) User Operations Guide, 365-372-301, as required, when performing this procedure.
This procedure assumes that the near-end node is an Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX and the far-end node is either an Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX or Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend.
This procedure assumes that all Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX shelves have been equipped with the required circuit packs for DWDM End Terminal nodes and software has been installed. If not, refer to Chapter 5, Node turnup procedures.
Ignore all alarms until the procedure is complete.
Complete the following steps to establish a DWDM point-to-point network.
1 |
From the System View menu at the near-end node, select Configuration → Equipment to access the required OMD circuit pack and provision the OTS port parameters according to the work instructions. Reference: Procedure 4-26: Provision optical transport signal (OTS) port
2 |
Select View → Equipment to access the required OMD circuit pack and verify that the OTS port was provisioned correctly.
3 |
At the near-end node, provision the required synchronization functions (for example, timing mode) according to work instructions. Reference: Procedure 6-5: Network Element synchronization provisioning
4 |
At the far-end node, provision the required OTS port and synchronization functions according to the work instructions.
| ||||||
5 |
Connect the optical fibers and verify the integrity of the DWDM optical span being established. Reference: Procedure 14-4: Perform connection and verification of optical facility
6 |
Perform end-to-end optical line test. Reference: Procedure 14-37: Perform end-to-end optical line test on DWDM line
7 |
At each node in the point-to-point network, click the Alarm List button and verify that no alarms are present. If required, clear any alarms that are present. Reference: Alcatel-Lucent 1665 Data Multiplexer (DMX) Alarm Messages and Trouble Clearing Guide, 365-372-302
8 |
The DWDM point-to-point network is now ready for optical channels to be added. Reference: Procedure 10-15: Add optical channel (OCH) to DWDM network End of steps |
