Important!

If cross-connections exist to a protected port on the affected circuit pack, the port Signal Type and Application parameters cannot be changed.

From the System View, select View → Cross-Connections to obtain a current list of cross-connections and verify that no cross-connections exist to protected ports on the affected circuit pack.

If required, select Configuration → Cross-Connections to access the Cross-Connection Wizard and delete any existing cross-connections to protected ports on the affected circuit pack.

From the System View, select Configuration → Update System → Update All.

From the System View, select Configuration → Equipment.

Result:

The Configure Equipment window opens.

Find the required low-speed OLIU circuit pack, then expand the equipment list by clicking on the plus (+) sign next to the low-speed OLIU circuit pack

Select a port and click Select.

Result:

The port parameters appear.

Provision the port Signal Type parameter STNA (LNW55 circuit pack only) or Application parameter 0x1 and click Apply.

Result:

If the port Signal Type parameter is changed to STNA and a pluggable transmission module is installed, the system reports an unexpected or failed Pluggable Transmission Module alarm.

If required, remove the affected pluggable transmission module and select Configuration → Update System → Update All to clear the unexpected or failed Pluggable Transmission Module alarm.

Important!

Either each port Signal Type parameter must be provisioned STNA (LNW55 circuit pack only) or the port Application parameter must be provisioned 0x1 on the affected low-speed OLIU circuit pack.

If required, repeat Step 3 through Step 7 to provision the remaining ports; otherwise, click Close.

Result:

When either the port Signal Type parameter is STNA (LNW55 circuit pack only) or the port Application parameter is 0x1 for all ports on the low-speed OLIU circuit pack, the Slot Protection State changes to Unprotected. The Slot Protection State change affects both slots in the Function/Growth group.

Select View → Equipment to access the affected circuit packs and verify that the Slot Protection State changed to Unprotected.
