Use this procedure to configure/provision the Signaling Communication Network (SCN) parameters. The SCN configuration consists of static IP routing parameters, and line DCC and LAN-3 parameters.
The SCN is a data communications network for transport of control plane signaling and routing messages between network elements (NEs). The SCN is an IP-based network which provides control channels between the upstream and downstream E-NNI nodes either over DCC or over LAN through an external IP network. Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend supports both LAN (LAN-3 [J18 DLAN]) and DCC (Line DCC) as the physical interfaces of SCN control channels.
The IP forwarding between peers of signaling controllers or routing controllers is supported by static routing for inter-domain forwarding.
Important!
The system SCN IP Address must be provisioned first before performing this procedure. Use the ent-node TL1 command or refer to Procedure 9-11.1: Provision system level node parameters to provision the SCN IP Address (scnipaddr).
When IP over line DCC is enabled for a port or multiple ports, it is not required to allocate an IP address to each port. The enabled IP over line DCC interfaces are called unnumbered interfaces. Though there is no IP address for each unnumbered interface, the system containing the unnumbered interface(s) must have a router ID (SCN IP Address) provisioned for signaling communications network. The router ID is used as if it is the IP address of all unnumbered interfaces in the system.
Complete the following steps to configure SCN parameters.
1 |
Select Administration → Data Communications from the System View menu. Click on the SCN tab. Alternatively, use the ent-fecom-scn TL1 command to provision the Line DCC and LAN-3 parameters and the ent-route-scn TL1 command to provision the manual IP route for the Signaling Communications Network (SCN). |
2 |
For the Line DCC, select the Port AID for the port being provisioned. Select Enabled or Disabled for the IP Over Line DCC. Reference: Table 9-3, ENT-FECOM-SCN Line DCC and LAN-3 parameters |
3 |
For LAN, select Enabled or Disabled for the IP Over LAN. Provision the remaining parameters from your work instructions. Reference: Table 9-3, ENT-FECOM-SCN Line DCC and LAN-3 parameters |
4 |
For the SCN IP Manual IP Route, click on the glasses icon to add/modify/delete an entry. Provision the parameters from your work instructions. Reference: Table 9-4, ENT-ROUTE-SCN parameters End of steps |
Table 9-3, ENT-FECOM-SCN Line DCC and LAN-3 parameters lists the provisionable parameters for SCN line DCC and LAN-3:
Parameter |
Description |
---|---|
Line DCC | |
ip_linedcc |
IP Over Line DCC. This parameter enables or disables the IP communications over the specified DCC (Line) interface. Valid values are Enabled or Disabled. The initial value is Disabled. The IP Over Line DCC only applies to the following circuit packs, LNW84 and LNW141. |
LAN Parameters | |
ip_lan |
IP Over LAN. This parameter enables or disables the IP communications over the specified LAN interface. Valid values are Enabled or Disabled. The initial value is Disabled. |
ipaddr_lan |
LAN IP Address. This is the 32-bit IP address for the specified LAN port. It consists of four dot-separated decimal numbers ranging from 0 to 255. The initial value is a null. If IP is disabled on a LAN port, IP address 0.0.0.0 can be used to delete a previously provisioned IP address. |
ipsnmk_lan |
LAN IP Subnet Mask. This is the 32-bit IP subnet mask for the specified LAN port. It consists of four dot-separated decimal numbers ranging from 0 to 255, with the restriction that all four integers represent (in binary) one or more ‘1’ bits, followed by zero or more ‘0’ bits (that is, all ‘1’ are near the most significant bit, all ‘0’ are near the least significant bit). The initial value is a null. If IP is disabled on a LAN port, IP subnet mask 0.0.0.0 can be used to delete a previously provisioned subnet mask. |
Table 9-4, ENT-ROUTE-SCN parameters lists the provisionable parameters for a Manual IP Route:
Parameter |
Description |
---|---|
SCN IP Manual IP Route | |
dest_ip |
Dest IP Address. This is a destination IP address. It consists of four dot-separated decimal numbers ranging from 0 to 255. The combination of this parameter, dest_mask and outgoing_intf identifies an unique manual route entry. It is a required parameter, and there is no default value. More than one manual route entry can be provisioned by executing the command multiple times. A maximum of 20 different manual route entries can be provisioned. |
dest_mask |
Dest IP Subnet Mask. Destination IP Subnet Mask. This is the 32-bit IP subnet mask, consisting of four dot-separated decimal numbers ranging from 0 to 255. It is a required parameter, and there is no default value. |
outgoing_intf |
Outgoing Interface. This is the outgoing interface used to send the IP packets to the destination IP address. It specifies a LAN or DCC AID address, excluding AIDs ending with “-all”. It is a required parameter, and there is no default value. For LAN, only LAN-3 is allowed. |
nexthop_ip |
Next Hop IP Address. This is the IP address of the next hop (router) to reach the destination IP address. It consists of four dot-separated decimal numbers ranging from 0 to 255. It is a required parameter if the outgoing interface is a LAN. It must not be specified if the outgoing interface is a DCC. |
