Procedure 8-6: View performance monitoring (PM) reports

- Overview

Use this procedure to view performance monitoring (PM) reports.

- Privilege level

You must log in as a Privileged, General, Maintenance, or Reports Only user to view performance monitoring reports.

- Before you begin

Prior to performing this procedure, refer to Before you begin and Required equipment in this chapter.

Steps

Perform the following steps to view PM reports.

1

From the System View menu, select Performance → View PM/Statistics Report then select the entity you want to report.

Result:

The ( ) PM Report window opens for the selected entity;

or, if Performance → View PM/Statistics Report → TCA was selected, the TCA report is displayed automatically. Proceed to Step 6.

2

Expand the details for the required group/circuit pack and port (if necessary). Highlight the entity from which you want to report and then click Select.

Result:

A parameter selection details window opens.

3

Select the Time Period (1 Day or 15 Min).

4

Which Time Period did you select?

If ...

Then...

1 Day

Select values for the following parameters:

  • Monitored Date (Current Date, Previous Date or Both)

  • Monitor Level (1-UP or 0-UP)

15 Min

Select values for the following parameters:

  • Number of Bins (All or Single)

If the Number of Bins selected is Single, you must also select a time period from the Monitored Time drop-down list.

  • Monitor Level (1-UP or 0-UP)

5

Important!

The following menu selections do not display Near End and Far End tabs because far-end performance monitoring is not supported. The parameters that are available for selection are near-end PM parameters.

  • DS1 Line (if the signal format of the selected port is Super Frame, Super Frame - Near-End Only, or Unframed).

If the signal format of the selected port is Ext. Super Frame - Near and Far End, the Near End and Far End tabs are available.

  • DS1 Path (if the signal format of the selected port is Super Frame, Super Frame - Near-End Only).

If the signal format of the selected port is Ext. Super Frame - Near and Far End, the Near End and Far End tabs are available. DS1 ports with a provisioned signal format of Unframed do not support DS1 Path PM and are not available for selection from this menu.

  • E1 Line

  • DS3 Line

  • DS3 Path (if the signal format of the selected port is Framed)

If the signal format of the selected port is C-Bit, the Near End and Far End tabs are available. DS3 ports with a provisioned signal format of Clear Channel do not support DS3 Path PM and are not available for selection from this menu.

Select the Near End and/or Far End Tab as required and select the parameters to report for each tab. Click Apply.

Result:

The ( ) PM Report is displayed. If you selected parameters on both tabs, the resulting report includes parameters designated as NEND (Near End) and FEND (Far End).

Performance monitoring for cross-connections is done at the incoming signal rates, not at the cross-connection rate. For example, an STS-12c cross-connection could consist of 1 STS-12c signal, 4 STS-3c signals, 12 STS-1 signals, or a mix of STS-3c and STS-1 signals. Therefore, a single request could return a report for several entities.

6

At the bottom of the window, click the appropriate button as required: Save As, Print, Refresh, Close, Reset, or Help.

7

If required, click Close on the ( ) PM Report window.
