Use this procedure to verify the integrity of a low-speed OC-n line.
Important!
This test must be performed locally at each Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend shelf location associated with the optical span(s) being tested.
You must log in as a Privileged, General, or Maintenance user to complete this procedure.
Important!
It is assumed that each Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend has passed the local (looped) transmission tests. If these tests have not been completed, refer to the appropriate procedure and perform the tests.
Prior to performing this procedure:

Refer to Laser safety and Electrostatic discharge in Chapter 1, Safety.
Complete the following steps to verify the integrity of a low-speed OC-n line.

From the System View menu, select Performance → View PM/Statistics Report → OCn Line. Result: The OCn Line PM Report window opens. | ||||||

Expand the appropriate low-speed OLIU circuit pack by clicking on the plus sign (+), select the required Port n (OCn), and then click Select. Result: The port performance monitoring parameters appear. | ||||||

Provision the Time Period parameter 15 Min, the Monitored Date parameter Current Date, the Monitor Time parameter Current, and the Monitor Level parameter 1-UP. Then move all the Near End Available Parameters to Selected Parameters by clicking Select All. Click Apply to obtain the OCn Line PM Report. Result: The OCn Line PM Report appears. The report should be empty, indicating no errors. | ||||||

Wait 20 seconds and click Refresh on the OCn Line PM Report window. If a 15-minute boundary is crossed during the 20-second wait period, repeat this step. Result: If the report is still empty, the optical span is error-free. Click Close. | ||||||

Did report indicate any errors?

Trouble may be in optical and/or fiber connections. Trouble may also be in OLIUs or pluggable transmission modules. If report indicated trouble when the report was obtained from the near end of the span, trouble may be in the receive direction. If the report indicated trouble when the report was obtained from the far end of the span, trouble may be in the transmit direction. Check optical fiber and connections. Clean optical fiber connections. Reference: Procedure 14-3: Clean optical fibers, dual LC adapters and LC lightguide buildouts (LBOs) If no trouble was found in the optical fiber, click the Alarm List button to obtain the NE Alarm List. Refer to the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 Data Multiplexer Extend (DMXtend) Alarm Messages and Trouble Clearing Guide, 365-372-326 to clear/isolate the trouble. | ||||||

If required, repeat this procedure from Step 2 for the companion OLIU in the function group; otherwise, click Close. | ||||||

Have you retrieved error-free performance-monitoring reports from all shelf locations associated with optical line(s) being tested?
