Procedure 6-3: Provision miscellaneous discrete inputs and outputs
Privilege level
You must log in as a Privileged or General user to provision miscellaneous discretes input and outputs. You must log in as a Privileged, General, or Maintenance user to operate/release a miscellaneous discrete output.
Before you begin
Prior to performing this procedure:

Refer to Before you begin and Required equipment in this chapter.

Verify that the work instructions specify the miscellaneous discrete names and alarm information required for provisioning.
Steps
Complete the following steps to provision miscellaneous discretes.

PROVISION MISCELLANEOUS DISCRETES From the System View menu, select Configuration → Misc Discretes. Result: The Configure Miscellaneous Discretes window opens. | ||||||

Expand the appropriate Input or Output list (according to the work instructions) by clicking on the plus sign (+). Select an available Input/Output to provision or edit (according to the work instructions) and click Select. Result: The miscellaneous discrete parameters appear. | ||||||

Provision the miscellaneous discrete input/output parameters according to the work instructions and click Apply. | ||||||

If required, repeat Step 3 and Step 4 to provision other miscellaneous discrete inputs/outputs; otherwise, click Close to exit. STOP! End of Procedure. | ||||||

OPERATE/RELEASE MISCELLANEOUS DISCRETE OUTPUT From the System View menu, select Fault → Operate Output Misc. Discrete. Result: The Operate Miscellaneous Discrete Outputs window opens. | ||||||

Expand the Output list by clicking on the plus sign (+). Select the required output and click Select. | ||||||

Select Operate Control Point to operate the output, or select Release Control Point to turn off the output. Click Apply. | ||||||

If required, repeat Step 7 and Step 8 to operate/release other miscellaneous discrete outputs; otherwise, click Close to exit. End of steps |
