Procedure 6-10: Assign alarm severity assignment profile

- Overview

Use this procedure to assign a DEFAULT or user-created alarm severity assignment profile (ASAP) to an entity within the system (for example, system, circuit pack, or port).

ASAPs cannot be preassigned to an entity before the entity is created in the system.

When an entity is created in the system (for example, a slot is equipped with a circuit pack), the system assigns the associated DEFAULT ASAP to the entity.

Different ASAPs within an ASAP type may be assigned to different entities within the system; however, only one ASAP may be assigned to an entity at a time. Assigning a different ASAP to an entity will override the previous assignment. The specified ASAP must agree with the allowed ASAP type for that entity in order to be assigned to the entity.

To create a new ASAP, refer to Procedure 6-7: Provision new alarm severity assignment profile.

To change an existing ASAP, refer to Procedure 6-8: Change existing alarm severity assignment profile.
