This is not a stand-alone procedure. Perform this procedure only as directed by another procedure.
Important!
This procedure is optional.
Complete the following steps to verify the active/standby status of the circuit pack/ports to be replaced and perform manual switches to switch traffic away from an active circuit pack/ports.
1 |
Important! If the circuit pack to be replaced has active ports for transmission and the optical fibers are disconnected, the system performs automatic protection switches and subsequent transmission hits (less than 60 ms) will occur. If desired, perform this step to determine the transmission state of the ports on the circuit pack to be replaced. Select View → Protection to access the required protection groups (according to the work instructions) and determine the active lines/paths supported by the circuit pack to be replaced. Record the active lines/paths supported by the circuit pack to be replaced. Click Close.

Important! If the circuit pack to be replaced has active ports for transmission, optional manual switches can be performed before replacing the circuit pack. In UPSRs, each path supported by the circuit pack to be replaced must be switched separately. Transmission hits (less than 60 ms) will occur for each separate protection switch. If the circuit pack to be replaced does not have active ports for transmission, proceed to Step 4. To perform an optional manual transmission switch, select Fault → Protection Switch.
Result: A dialog box appears asking you to confirm executing this command. Click Yes. The ABN LED is lighted on the SYSCTL circuit pack faceplate. If a UPSR or 1+1 protection group, the system reports a manual switch condition.
3 |
Repeat Step 2 for each protection group that has an active port on the circuit pack to be replaced. Click Close.
4 |
If required, repeat Step 1 to verify that the circuit pack to be replaced does not have active ports for transmission. STOP! To complete the upgrade, return to the procedure that directed you to perform this procedure. End of steps |
