Procedure 4-6: Provision VLNC50/52/55 Gigabit LAN port/VCGs for service

- Overview

Use this procedure to provision the VLNC50/52/55 Gigabit LAN port and VCGs for service.

For a detailed description of the Web-based GUI used to interface with the VLNC40/42/42B, VLNC60/61/62, and VLNC64 circuit packs and general information about using the Web-based GUI, refer to Alcatel-Lucent 1850 Transport Service Switch (TSS-5) CLI User Provisioning Guide.

Important!

The VLNC50/52/55 Gigabit LAN port and VCGs are provisioned for the type of service being provided. This procedure shows how to access the parameters being provisioned, not how the parameters should be provisioned. Refer to your work instructions for parameter values or refer to Chapter 11, Ethernet network provisioning procedures for examples of Ethernet service provisioning.

- Privilege level

You must log in as a Privileged or General user to complete this procedure.

- Before you begin

Prior to performing this procedure:

  1. Refer to Before you begin and Required equipment in this chapter.

  2. Obtain work instructions for this procedure.

  3. Verify that the work instructions specify the LAN port and/or VCG parameters/values to be provisioned.

  4. Ensure that the required circuit pack is installed. If required, refer to Procedure 4-2: Install circuit pack in Main slot.

  5. Ensure that the required pluggable transmission modules are installed. If required, refer to Procedure 4-3: Install pluggable transmission modules.

Steps

Complete the following steps to provision the VLNC50/52/55 Gigabit LAN port and VCGs for service.

From the System View window, click the Alarm List button to obtain an NE Alarm List. Verify that no alarms are present for the ports on the circuit packs to be provisioned.

From the System View menu, select Configuration → Equipment.

Result:

The Configure Equipment window opens.

Expand the equipment list by clicking on the plus (+) sign next to the required Group.

Click (highlight) the required pluggable transmission module (PTM sc1), then click Select at the bottom of the window.

Provision the required pluggable transmission module parameters according to the work instructions, then click Apply if changes were made. If no changes were made, continue with the next step.

Click (highlight) the LAN port/VCG being provisioned, then click Select at the bottom of the window.

Result:

The LAN port/VCG parameters appear.

Select and provision the parameters, according to your work instructions.

Click Apply to make provisioning changes.

Result:

A dialog box may appear asking you to confirm executing this command. Click Yes to apply changes.
