NOTICE Service-disruption hazard |
Changing the DCC termination parameters may affect system operations.
Do not change the DCC termination parameters on an in-service system unless you are directed to do so from another procedure.
Use this procedure to provision the DCC termination parameters for an OC-N port.
Important!
The DCC termination parameters are generally provisioned when the system/optical span is integrated into a network.
Prior to performing this procedure,
Refer to Before you begin and Required equipment in this chapter.
Obtain the work instructions for this procedure.
Perform the following steps to provision DCC terminations.
1 |
From the System View menu, select Configuration → DCC Terminations. Result: The Configure DCC Terminations window opens.
2 |
Select the DCC Port being provisioned from the Port AID drop-down box.
3 |
Important! The DCC termination parameters are generally provisioned when the system/optical span is integrated into a network and should not be changed unless you are reconfiguring the network and have been directed to do so. Provision the DCC Channel Parameters according to the work instructions and click Apply. The LAPD Role parameter must be provisioned differently at each end of an optical span. For example, if the LAPD Role parameter is provisioned user-side at one end of an optical span, then the LAPD Role parameter must be provisioned network-side at the other end of the optical span.
4 |
If required, repeat Step 2 and Step 3 to provision another DCC port; otherwise, continue with the next step.
5 |
Was the DCC Type parameter of a DCC port provisioned to DUAL?
| ||||||
6 |
Important! When one or more DCC ports are provisioned as a Dual (IP + OSI) interface, the system must have a Router ID provisioned. The Router ID parameter is a 32-bit IP address and is used as if it is the IP address of all unnumbered interfaces (Dual interfaces). The Router ID could be the same as or different from the IP address assigned (if there is) to the front LAN interface. However, it is recommended that the Router ID be the same as the IP address assigned (not the default) to the front LAN interface. Provision the required Router ID parameter by selecting Administration → Data Communications and clicking on the Network Layer tab.
