Procedure 16-3.4: Configure Maintenance Association End Point (MEP)

- Overview

Use this procedure to create, delete, or modify a (local) MEP for a specific port and MA.

From the Navigation menu, select Service OA&M → Maintenance Association End Point → Configuration.

Result:

The Maintenance Association End Point Configuration window displays.

Enter the parameters as required. See Table 16-10, Maintenance Association End Point Configuration parameters.

Click Submit to modify the existing MEP or add new MEP. Click Delete to delete an existing MEP.

Parameter

Description

SNMP

MD Name

A drop-down list containing all MDs in the system. There is no default value.

Step-Retrieve-All- MD-Names

MA Name

Maintenance Association Name. This is a drop-down list containing all valid MAs in the selected MD (see above).

Step-Retrieve-All- MA-Names-in-MD

MEP ID/Create

This is a drop-down list containing "Create" and all MEP IDs in the MEP table (dot1agCfmMepTable) for the selected MD/MA. There is no default value.

If the MEP table entry for the selected MEP ID already exists, then the user is allowed to modify the MEP table entry. Otherwise, the user is allowed to create the MEP table entry. If the total number of MEPs in the system already reaches 63, then either the "Create" option will not be available in the drop-down list or a proper message will be displayed when trying to create a MEP.

The MEP ID information is stored in the dot1agCfmMepTable. The MEP ID is also stored in the dot1agCfmMaMepListTable.

MEP ID

Maintenance association End Point ID. This is a display-only field if an existing MEP ID is selected above. Otherwise, this is an editable field. Valid values: an integer in the range of 1-8191. There is no default value. The MEP ID is unique in the combination of MA and port.

Direction

MEP direction. Valid values: up. This is a display-only field.

dot1agCfmMepDire ction

CCM Creation Mode

Creation mode of the CCM by this MEP. Valid values: Enable or Disable. The default value is Disable.

dot1agCfmMepCci Enabled

CCM/LTM Priority

The priority value in the S-TAG for CCM and Linktrace Messages (LTM) transmitted by this MEP. Values: an integer in the range of 0-7. The default value is 7.
