Procedure 16-2.4: Configure Maintenance Association End Point (MEP)

Use this procedure to create, delete, or modify a (local) MEP for a specific port and MA.

From the Navigation menu, select Service OA&M → Maintenance Association End Point → Configuration.

Equivalent CLI command: ethoam mep.

Result:

The Maintenance Association End Point Configuration window displays.

Enter the parameters as required. See Table 16-6, Maintenance Association End Point Configuration parameters.

Click Submit to modify the existing MEP or add new MEP. Click Delete to delete an existing MEP.

Description

CLI command

MD Name

A drop-down list containing all MDs in the system. There is no default value.

ethoam md <MDname>

MA Name

Maintenance Association Name. This is a drop-down list containing all valid MAs in the selected MD (see above). The VLAN ID monitored by the MA must be provisioned on the selected port. The VLAN ID monitored by the MA must be enabled, if the MEP Direction is “down”. The MA must not have the 0 VLAN ID assigned, if the MEP direction is up.

ethoam ma <MAname>

MEP ID/Create

This is a drop-down list containing “Create” plus all MEP IDs for the selected MD/MA. The default value is “Create”. The “Create” selection creates a new MEP and a nonexisting MEP ID is entered in the MEP ID entry below. Creating a new MEP requires the MA be created first to which this MEP attaches.

ethoam mep <mepid>

MEP ID

Maintenance association End Point ID. This is a display-only field if an existing MEP ID is selected above. Otherwise, this is an editable field. Valid values: an integer in the range of 1-8191. There is no default value. The MEP ID is unique in the combination of MA and port.

ethoam mep <mepid>

Port AID

This is the Ethernet port or Port Channel (LAG, e.g. lag-1) to which the local MEP is attached. When creating the local MEP, this parameter is a drop-down list containing all Ethernet ports and Port Channels in the pack (bridge).

Direction

MEP direction. Valid values: up or down. The default value is up. Down is not a valid value when the VLAN ID monitored by the selected MA is not enabled. If the local MEP is already configured for another MA, then the direction is the same value as that of same existing MEP. For an existing MEP (i.e. not Create), this field cannot be modified and will be a display-only field. The Direction for an existing MEP cannot be modified.

ethoam mep: direction {up | down}

CCM Creation Mode

Creation mode of the CCM by this MEP. Valid values: Enable and Disable. The default value is Disable. Enable is not a valid value on an Up-MEP (see Direction above) when the MA is configured for a CCM interval below 1 second unless ethoam pm enabled. Enable is not a valid value on a Down-MEP when the MA is configured for a CCM interval below 1 second, unless its port has ethoam pm enabled.

ethoam mep mep-cc {enable | disable}

CCM/LTM Priority

The priority value in the S-TAG for CCM and Linktrace Messages (LTM) transmitted by this MEP. Values: an integer in the range of 0-7. The default value is 7.
