NE Insert/Removal Tool Concepts

Overview

This section provides conceptual information about Add/Remove node.

Functional Description

NE Insert/Remove enables a new node to be brought between two MPLS-TP nodes to the network. The node can be inserted into an existing physical network connection (link) in the existing MPLS-TP/T-MPLS network, which includes configurations in which the link is part of a linear chain or ring topology as shown in Figure 3-124, Insert Node Linear Chain Topology and Figure 3-125, Insert Node Ring Topology.

It also enables a node to be removed/deleted from an existing physical network connection (link) in the existing MPLS-TP/T-MPLS network, which includes configurations in which the link is part of a linear chain or ring topology as shown in Figure 3-126, Remove Node Linear Chain Topology and Figure 3-127, Remove Node Ring Topology.

NE Addition/removal is done using PKT system, which is an application that provides Ethernet network management layer support along with provisioning, alarm correlation, and historical PM data services. Ethernet services include Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), Transport-Multi-Protocol Label Switching (T-MPLS), bridging, Connection Oriented traffic, and packet rings. The PKT system inserts or removes a node in an existing physical network connection and appropriately updates all network level information to be consistent with the new configuration.
