About this guide
This guide provides an overview of multicast routing concepts and provides configuration examples for Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP), Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD), and Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM).
The multicast feature is supported on 7250 IXR Gen 2, 7250 IXR Gen 2c+, 7730 SXR and 7220 IXR-Dx platforms.
On the 7250 IXR Gen 2 and 7250 IXR Gen 2c+ platforms, the protocols are available only on the default network instance. On the 7730 SXR and 7220 IXR-Dx platforms, they are available for both default and non-default network instances.
The feature supports IGMP versions 1, 2, and 3 with SSM-translation for v1 and v2, PIM-SM IPv4/IPv6 with Source-Specific Multicast (SSM), and IPv6 MLDv1 with SSM-translation and MLDv2.
This manual covers the current release and may also contain some content that will be released in later maintenance loads. See the SR Linux Release Notes for information about features supported in each load.
Configuration and command outputs shown in this guide are examples only; actual displays may differ depending on supported functionality and user configuration.Precautionary and information messages
