Create a partition

Introduction

The Lucent CM needs to be told about the partition and service provider, and the groups within a partition. In the Lucent CM, a partition defines a relationship between a set of users and a particular call server. In the case of the Lucent FS 3000 it also makes an association with the Lucent FS 3000 group.

Create partition and group

Important!  All the services and packages must have been defined before you can assign them to a group.

To create a partition:

  1. At the Lucent CM Explorer tree view, select the Partition folder

  2. Click Add at the Partition List tab.

  3. Define partition parameters

  4. Click Add.

To create a group:

  1. At the Lucent CM Explorer tree view, select the Groups folder

  2. Click Add at the Groups tab.

  3. Define general group parameters and assign services and packages.

  4. Click Add.

Group services

The group voice mail service should be assigned if the enterprise is using the Lucent FS 3000 hosted voice mail through the Lucent FS 3000 voice portal.

User Service

User services are assigned to users by the Lucent CM system. The only responsibility at the Lucent FS 3000 is to make sure that ALL user services are available to be assigned.

Voice Messaging

Voice messaging relies on the voice portal being set up on the Lucent FS 3000. It also requires the voice messaging group service to be configured at the Lucent FS 3000.

Feature package

The features that are available to users within the group must be specified on the Lucent CM so that the Lucent CM can present the appropriate list of feature buttons to the user. The features activation digit sequences must match the codes defined in Lucent FS 3000 (if they have been changed from their defaults).

User feature packages

The user feature packages are created within the Lucent CM so that sets of users can get the same set of features. This user feature package is derived from the feature package defined above, and is necessary before creating a user. Changing the contents of a user feature package causes all the users assigned to that user feature package to have their services changed at the Lucent FS 3000 system. A user feature package defines the services available to a user

Define a name for a user feature package by selecting <new_feature_pkg> and then select the features that this user should be assigned, and hit Add.

Dialing rule package

The dialing rules allow the Lucent CM to use either the extension or the full DN for dialing and for address book lookups. These dialing rules also are used for assigning an extension to users whose phone numbers are Direct Inward Dial (DID) lines, in other words they have a full 10 digit number (for the North America Numbering Plan). Dialing rules must be specified or users can not be added to that location.

To define dialing rules for typical plans, just enter in the home area code and the 7 digit pattern for the numbers. Indicate how many digits an extension is (for example, set business group to 4 if they have 4 digit extensions). Hit Create. This defines the pattern which you can then edit for special rules. If that basic pattern is good enough, hit Apply. It is very important to hit Apply, since Create does not store it in the system.
