Add, modify, or delete a static route
GO |
This procedure describes the steps to add, modify, or delete static routes from a Lucent CM application node or universal node to an external server. Static routes ensure routes are available from each application server to each external server.
Perform this procedure when you want to define static routes to servers that are external to the Lucent CM system.
The following servers are examples of external servers:
Important! Do not use this procedure to define routes between Lucent CM nodes that are on different subnets. For example in a geographically redundant Lucent CM configuration.
You must define the static route data lists per Lucent CM system, not per Lucent CM server.
For example: There are Lucent CM application servers on different locations. Each application server uses a different gateway to reach external servers. The Static Route data lists must contain entries for all gateways.
When the administrator updates or saves the static routes data list:
The static routes data list is sent to all application nodes or universal nodes of the Lucent CM system.
The nodes remove the existing routes from their route tables
Check if routes are already available. If so, no action is performed for these routes.
For each destination, check if a route to the related gateway is already available. If so, a route command is generated for the destination via the gateway.
Create route commands for the remaining missing destinations.
The static route parameters:
Parameter |
Description |
Destination IP address |
The IP address of the destination of the static route. |
Enabled |
Check mark to enable or disable the static route. |
Netmask |
The netmask of the static route. |
Network Host |
Radio buttons to select the purpose of the route. When you select Host, then netmask is set to 255.255.255.255 |
Gateway IP |
IP address of the gateway. |
Description |
A description for the static route. |
Important! Verify correctness of static routes before you configure the static routes.
Consult with the network administrator to determine the proper static routes. Configuring incorrect static routes can result in failures to reach external servers and thus in service failures or failures in OAM&P.
Perform the following steps to add, modify, or delete a static route:
1 |
At the Lucent CM Explorer tree view, click Lucent CM System and click the Static Route Data tab.
2 |
| ||||||||
3 |
Configure the Static Route Data parameters.
4 |
Click Add or Update to save the Static Route Data. Result: The Static Route Data list is updated to show the changes you made.
5 |
Click Apply to apply the Static Route Data. Result: The Static Route Data list is sent out to the database and the application nodes and universal nodes for processing. End of steps |
