This topic describes the steps to add, modify, or delete a Lucent CM authentication service package.
A Lucent CM authentication service is used to define a password policy. A password policy is a set of rules for the use of passwords of all administrators and users.
Multiple Lucent CM authentication services can be defined to provide separate password policies for different groups. For example:
All Lucent CM service provider administrators
All partition administrators for one partition
All users of one partition.
The Lucent CM Authentication Package parameters. x and y represent values that are selected by the administrator:
Parameter |
Description |
Package ID |
Identifier to uniquely identify the Lucent CM authentication package. |
User authentication disabled |
Disables user authentication. Important! Checking this parameter allows all users with this authentication package to access Lucent CM without providing a password. A partition administrator can not be assigned an authentication service that has the user authentication disabled. |
Cannot match account info |
Prevents a user’s password to match any information entered on the User Info screen for that user For example: user ID, first name or last name. |
Cannot be reverse of old password |
Prevents a user's password using the reverse order of characters used in the most recent password. |
Must contain at least (x) number(s) |
The minimum number of digits that must be include in the password. |
Must contain at least x alphabetic character(s) |
The minimum number of alphabetic characters that must be include in the password. Alphabetic characters must be lower case. |
Must contain at least x special character(s) |
The minimum number of special characters (!@#$%&*) that must be included in the password. |
Must contain at least x characters |
The minimum number of characters that must be included in the password (whether numeric, alphabetic, or special). |
Cannot contain more that x characters |
The maximum number of characters allowed in the password. |
Expires in x day(s) |
The number of days the password remains valid. |
Warn of expiration x day(s) before |
The number of days to warn the user that the user's password is about to expire. Once the specified number of days before expiration is reached, the warning message is sent each time the user logs in. |
Disable login after x failure(s) for y minute(s) |
The number of login attempts that are allowed and how long in a specified number of minutes any additional attempts are disallowed. Once the login attempts are disabled, the user must wait for the specified time period before trying to login again. |
Password failure window x minute(s) |
The number of minutes in which successive failures are counted. If the user fails to login and attempts to login after this time period, if this second attempt fails, it is considered the first failed attempt for the time period. This will avoid locking out a user if failed attempts occur over a series of days. |
Cannot match last x passwords |
The number of passwords most recently used that cannot be reused. For example, if this is set to 3, the last three passwords cannot be reused |
Password unique for x day(s) |
The number of days that a password must remain unique. This will stop a user from reusing passwords by changing the password a number of times within a short period of time (i.e. the same day). |
Password grace period x day(s) |
The period of time a user is allowed to change an expired password before they must contact an admin to change it for them. |
