Procedure 9-1: Establish high-speed end-to-end Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX network

Overview

Use this procedure to establish an end-to-end Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX high-speed:

OC-3/12/48/192 UPSR
OC-48/192 BLSR
OC-3/12/48/192 1+1 linear (Main-to-Main)
OC-3/12/48 1+1 linear (Main-to-Function/Growth)
OC-3/12/48/192 0x1 unprotected optical extension (VLF OLIU circuit packs only)

Important!

This procedure assumes that the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX shelves have been equipped with the required circuit packs/pluggable transmission modules, software has been installed, and the shelf has passed the looped transmission tests. If not, refer to Chapter 5, Node turnup procedures.

You must log in as a Privileged user to complete this procedure.

Before you begin

Prior to performing this procedure:

Refer to Before you begin in this chapter.
Refer to Laser safety and Electrostatic discharge information in Chapter 1, Safety.
Obtain the work instructions for this procedure.
During initial ring turn up, the default value for the port PJC Monitoring Point parameter may produce constant PM counts. To prevent constant PM counts, provision the port PJC Monitoring Point parameter to an unused tributary. Refer to Procedure 8-5: Provision performance monitoring (PM) settings.

Steps

Complete the following steps to establish an end-to-end Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX system.

Important!

The network element TID (target identifier) must be unique in the network.

From the System View at the starting node,

Select Administration → View NE Administration.
Verify that the NE Parameters and NSAP are provisioned correctly using the work instruction and/or office records.
Click Close.
If provisioning changes are required, refer to the appropriate procedure(s) in Chapter 7, System administration procedures.
Repeat this step at each node in the network.

If establishing a high-speed...	Then...
UPSR network,	Proceed to Procedure 9-1.1: Establish high-speed UPSR network.
BLSR network,	Proceed to Procedure 9-1.2: Establish high-speed BLSR network.
1+1 linear extension (Main-to-Main) network,	Proceed to Procedure 9-1.3: Establish high-speed 1+1 linear (Main-to-Main) network.
1+1 linear extension (Main-to-Function/Growth) network,	Proceed to Procedure 9-1.4: Establish high-speed 1+1 linear (Main-to-Function/Growth) network.
0x1 unprotected optical extension,	Proceed to Procedure 9-1.5: Establish high-speed 0x1 unprotected optical extension.
