Use this procedure to provision the 10G Muxponder circuit pack and Optical Channel Transport Unit (OTU2) port for service. An OTU2 port is comprised of up to eight SONET/GbE/Data client signals.
Prior to performing this procedure:
Refer to Required equipment and Before you begin in this chapter.
Verify that the work instructions specify the circuit pack and OTU2 port parameters/values to be provisioned.
Ensure that the required circuit pack is installed. If the circuit pack is not installed, refer to Procedure 4-28: Install 10G Muxponder circuit packs .
Ensure that the required pluggable transmission module is installed. Refer to Procedure 4-15: Install pluggable transmission modules.
Complete the following steps to provision a 10G Muxponder circuit pack and Optical Channel Transport Unit (OTU2) port for service
1 |
From the System View menu, click the Alarm List button to verify that no alarms are present for the circuit packs to be provisioned. Result: The NE Alarm List appears. |
2 |
From the System View menu, select Configuration → Equipment. Result: The Configure Equipment window opens. |
3 |
Find and click (highlight) the 10G Muxponder circuit pack being provisioned, then click Select at the bottom of the window. Result: The circuit pack parameters appear. |
4 |
Provision the circuit pack parameters as required, then click Apply if changes were made. If no changes were made, continue with the next step to provision the OTU2 port. Result: A dialog box may appear asking you to confirm executing this command. Click Yes to apply changes. |
5 |
Click Close to exit or continue with the next step to provision the OTU2 port. |
6 |
Find the circuit pack with the OTU2 port being provisioned, then expand the equipment list by clicking on the plus (+) sign next to the circuit pack. |
7 |
Click (highlight) the required pluggable transmission module (PTM) for the OTU2 port being provisioned, then click Select at the bottom of the window. |
8 |
Important! If connecting to an optical channel on an LNW785 OMD circuit pack, the Expected Frequency of the DWDM-compatible optics must match the OCH port frequency. If the Expected Frequency of the of the DWDM-compatible optics and the OCH port frequency are different, attempts to provision an OCH cross-connection will be denied. The frequencies are not compared if the DWDM compatible signal is terminated by a different network element (alien wavelength). Provision the required pluggable transmission module parameters according to the work instructions, then click Apply if changes were made. If no changes were made, continue with the next step to provision the OTU2 port. |
9 |
Click (highlight) the OTU2 port being provisioned, then click Select at the bottom of the window. Result: The OTU2 port parameters appear. |
10 |
Select and provision the OTU2 port parameters according to the work instructions. |
11 |
Click Apply to make provisioning changes. If no changes were made, click Close. Result: A dialog box may appear asking you to confirm executing this command. Click Yes to apply changes. End of steps |
