Use this procedure to copy a supported software generic from your Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend 9.1.x shelf to a supported remote NE.
Important!
This procedure requires that the software generic to be copied be installed in the Dormant areas of the NVMs installed in the LNW2 in your source Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend shelf.
You must also have OSI connectivity (via your OSI LAN or DCC) between the source and the destination NEs.
Before performing this procedure, refer to Before you begin in this chapter and Electrostatic discharge in Chapter 1, Safety.
This procedure requires that the software generic being copied is installed in the Dormant areas of the NVMs installed in the LNW2 of the source Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend shelf. You must also have OSI connectivity (via OSI LAN or DCC) between the source and the destination NEs.
This procedure uses the cpy-prgm command to copy a software generic from an in-service Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend 9.1.x shelf to the following types of remote NEs:
Important!
Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX and Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend are the only NEs that can accept a software generic of another product type. For example, if your remote NE is an Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5 shelf, the only product type that you can copy to the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5 shelf is dmxplore.
Complete the following steps to copy a supported software generic from your Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend 9.1.x shelf to a supported remote NE.
1 |
Establish a WaveStar® CIT session and log in to the source shelf (the shelf with the desired generic in the Dormant areas of the NVMs installed in the LNW2). Reference: Procedure 14-2: Connect Personal Computer (PC) and establish WaveStar® CIT session
2 |
From the System View menu, select Configuration → Software → Copy Software. Result: The Copy Software screen appears.
3 |
In the Copy Software screen, what are the Product Type and Release of the Dormant Software Generic?
| ||||||||||
4 |
From the Copy Software screen, select the following fields accordingly:
Important! During the remote copy, the destination shelf (assuming Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend, Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX, or Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5) produces the remote install/copy program IP Standing Condition (SC) autonomous message. The source shelf (assuming Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend, Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX, Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5, or Metropolis® DMXpress) produces the copy program IP Standing Condition (SC) autonomous message. If logged in to the NE, each condition is visible in the alarm list (click the Alarm List button from the System View) and the NE History log (select Reports → NE History Log from the System View). Result: While the copy is in progress, a progress indicator window is present. The download takes approximately 30 minutes. The copy can be cancelled any time by pressing the Cancel button on the progress screen.
5 |
When the transfer is complete, a message window appears, stating Copy Software Complete. Click OK. Result: The software generic is now on the destination shelf.
6 |
Important! If your destination shelf is either an Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend NE or an Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX NE, do NOT insert a new circuit pack in the shelf until after you apply the new software generic and clear the dormant/exec version mismatch condition. Do you wish to apply (activate) the software generic that you recently downloaded to the dormant area of the destination shelf?
| ||||||||||
7 |
Is your destination shelf an Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend 5.0/5.1/8.0/9.0/9.1 NE or Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMX 7.0/7.1/8.0/9.0/9.1 NE?
| ||||||||||
8 |
Do you wish to copy the software generic to another NE?
