Procedure 8-7: Schedule performance monitoring (PM) reports

- Overview

This procedure allows a user to schedule Performance Monitoring reports on Alcatel-Lucent 1665 DMXtend. Performance monitoring can be scheduled to provide quarter hour and daily reports beginning at different time intervals.

In order to schedule PM reports, PM messaging must be enabled and you must use the WaveStar® CIT TL1 cut-through mode.

Important!

The WaveStar® CIT Graphical User Interface (GUI) does not, at this time, support this command.

If you are unfamiliar with the parameters in this procedure, refer to SCHED-PMREPT in the Alcatel-Lucent 1665 Data Multiplexer Extend (DMXtend) TL1 Message Details, 365-372-328.

- Privilege level

You must log in as a Privileged, General, or Maintenance user to complete this procedure.

- Before you begin

Prior to performing this procedure, refer to Before you begin and Required equipment in this chapter.

Steps

Complete the following steps to schedule PM. The NE supports up to a maximum of 100 active scheduled PM reports, counting every aid as many times as it is scheduled (aid values that include ALL are counted multiple times). The NE accepts each SCHED-PMREPT as a request for a different scheduled PM report unless two requests are exact duplicates. The SCHED-PMREPT command does not generate a REPT DBCHG message.

Important!

The port/tributary/VCG monitoring mode (primary state) parameter must be IS (in-service) to enable performance monitoring.

Verify that performance monitoring is enabled (port/tributary/VCG monitoring mode is IS) for the required port, tributaries, and/or VCGs.

2

From the WaveStar® CIT System View menu, verify that the Performance Monitoring (PM) message type has been enabled for the OS Application Type being used by selecting Administration → Set TL1 Message Map.

3

From the WaveStar® CIT System View menu, select File → NE Disconnect and click Yes in the resulting confirmation window.

4

From the Network View, log back into the NE but this time click TL1, not Graphical.

5

Select the Cut Through Execution Mode and click OK.

6

Log in to the network element using the act-user TL1 command. Enter your user ID and password. Defaults are LUC01 and DMXTND2.5G, respectively.

7

Schedule the required PM report using the sched-pmrept TL1 command.

Performance monitoring for cross-connections is done at the incoming signal rates, not at the cross-connection rate. For example, an STS-12c cross-connection could consist of 1 STS-12c signal, 4 STS-3c signals, 12 STS-1 signals, or a mix of STS-3c and STS-1 signals. Therefore, a single request could return a report for several entities.
