Use this procedure to establish the following Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5 SONET/SDH networks:
Unidirectional path switched ring (UPSR)/Subnetwork connection protection (SNCP)
0x1 extension
1+1 linear extension
The Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5 supports UPSRs or SNCPs. When the system interface standard parameter is provisioned to SONET, UPSRs are supported. When the system interface standard parameter is provisioned to SDH, SNCPs are supported. Refer to Procedure 6-2: Provision system parameters to provision the interface standard parameter.
Important!
This procedure assumes that the Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5 shelves have been equipped with the required circuit packs/pluggable transmission modules, software has been installed, and the shelf has passed the looped transmission tests. If not, refer to Procedure 5-1: Equip new Alcatel-Lucent 1850 Transport Service Switch 5.
Prior to performing this procedure:
Refer to Before you begin and Required equipment in this chapter.
Refer to Laser safety and Electrostatic discharge in Chapter 1, Safety.
Obtain the work instructions for this procedure.
Complete the following steps to establish an Alcatel-Lucent 1850 TSS-5 SONET/SDH network.

Important! The TID (target identifier) must be unique in the network. From the System View at the starting node, select Administration → View NE Administration to obtain a list of provisioned system parameters. Verify that the NE Parameters and NSAP are provisioned correctly using the work instruction and/or office records. Click Close. If provisioning changes are required, refer to the appropriate procedures in Chapter 7, System administration procedures. Repeat this step at each node in the network. | ||||||||
