Procedure 11-6: Provision VLNC50/52/55 circuit pack Ethernet-related parameters

- Overview

This procedure provides a list of provisionable circuit pack Ethernet-related parameters for the VLNC50/52/55 circuit packs.

- Privilege level

You must login as either a Privileged or General user to complete this procedure.

- Before you begin

Prior to performing this procedure, refer to Before you begin and Required equipment in this chapter and you must have complete work instructions for this procedure that detail:

  • The network configuration and the terminating Ethernet nodes.

  • The values to be set for each parameter.

Steps

Use this procedure as a reference for provisioning the VLNC50/52/55 circuit pack Ethernet-related parameters.

1

Use the ed-eqpt TL1 command or select Configuration → Equipment from the System View menu. Select the Ethernet circuit pack being provisioned, then click Select.

2

Use Table 11-3, ED-EQPT command provisionable parameters as reference to provision the necessary parameters from your work instructions.

End of steps

ED-EQPT command parameters

Table 11-3, ED-EQPT command provisionable parameters lists the provisionable parameters for the Ethernet circuit packs:

Table 11-3: ED-EQPT command provisionable parameters

Parameter

Description

prot_state

The Slot Protection state parameter specifies the protection state for the companion circuit packs in the Main slot pair.

Values are:

  • PROT - protected.

  • UNPROT - unprotected.

vlantagmd

The Virtual LAN Tagging Mode parameter has the following values.

  • NOTAG - In the NOTAG mode No VLAN or port tag assignments are required (Private Line Mode). Accepts all customer packets. Default value for the VLNC50/52/55 circuit packs.

  • MUX - In the Multiplex mode, the VLNC50/52/55 circuit packs provide up to eight VCGs.

Changing vlantagmd from MUX to NOTAG causes all VLANs assigned via ED-VCG to be removed. Changing vlantagmd from MUX to NOTAG is denied if any cross-connections exist to VCGs 2 through 8.

Changing vlantagmd from NOTAG to MUX is denied if the mtu_size parameter of ED-EPORT is not within the range of 64 and 2048 or if the rcf_linkdown parameter of ED-EPORT is set to ENABLE.

When in the PROT mode, the vlantagmd parameter applies to both affected circuit packs.
